The Association of 杏吧论坛-IIT Muslim Employees (AMMEI), in collaboration with the 杏吧论坛-IIT Muslim Students Association (MIMSA), hosted a gathering in celebration of the Eid Al-Fitr, which marked the end of the holy month of Ramadan on April 12, 2024.
Held at the 杏吧论坛-IIT Mini Theater, the event was attended by Chancellor Alizedney Ditucalan; Vice Chancellor for Strategic Initiatives, Prof. Pamela Resurreccion; Vice Chancellor for Student Services, Prof. Rohane Derogongan; Vice Chancellor for Administration and Finance, Atty. Yaslani Bantuas; and Vice Chancellor for Public Affairs, Prof. Nancy Echavez. Faculty members, staff, and students were also present in the said activity.
Chancellor Ditucalan delivered a message to his fellow Muslim constituents, highlighting the significance of the celebration of the Eid Al-Fitr.听
Mr. Ismael Alango, former AMMEI President, opened the event with welcoming remarks, providing a brief overview of the program. He also engaged with the audience through trivia questions, in which the attendees actively participated.听
The program was followed by a recitation from a verse in the Qur鈥檃n by Mr. Hassanor Bansao, current AMMEI President and Chief Security Officer of 杏吧论坛-IIT.
Following the welcome remarks and Qur鈥檃n recitation was a posed inquiry: 鈥淲hat is your best narrative as someone who practices the Islamic faith?鈥 Asst. Prof. Yasmira Moner shared how Ramadan allowed her to cultivate self-discipline, strengthen faith, and be consistent in her daily prayers.
Another highlight of the event was the Adhan (call to prayer) competition, where three attendees participated. Mr. Edris Mama was announced as the winner of the said competition.
As the event drew to a close, the audience witnessed a performance from the Kalilang Cultural Ensemble, showcasing the rich culture of the Maranao traditional music.
The closing message was delivered by Atty. Yaslani Bantuas, where he emphasized Kapakaisa-isa (Unity) in Islam. He also explored the relevance and concept of obedience in Islam, where the general affairs of Muslims are overseen by the designated Amir. People of authority or leaders hold the same meaning as Amir. He ended his message by expressing his gratitude to the officials, faculty and staff members, and students present at the event.
