The Mindanao State University - Iligan Institute of Technology (ÐÓ°ÉÂÛ̳-IIT) is once again taking the lead in developing a discipline-based roadmap for higher education.
This year, ÐÓ°ÉÂÛ̳-IIT is tasked with spearheading the development of the five-year roadmap for the field of history. This 2M project, funded by the Commission on Higher Education (CHED), is a testament to ÐÓ°ÉÂÛ̳-IIT's commitment to promoting quality education and further strengthening the higher education sector in the country.
“I am delighted that ÐÓ°ÉÂÛ̳-IIT has once again been entrusted with the opportunity to lead in the development of a discipline-based roadmap, this time for the field of history in higher education,” said Chancellor Alizedney M. Ditucalan.
Working in close partnership with CHED, ÐÓ°ÉÂÛ̳-IIT will leverage its expertise and experience to formulate strategies and directions that will shape the future of history education in the Philippines.
The collaborative nature of this project brings together industry experts, government agencies, and other relevant partners to contribute their invaluable insights and perspectives. By leveraging the expertise and diverse perspectives of stakeholders, ÐÓ°ÉÂÛ̳-IIT aims to develop a roadmap that accurately reflects the current state of the discipline and addresses emerging trends and challenges.
“We believe that history plays a pivotal role in understanding where we come from and shaping where we are headed as a nation. It is our responsibility to impart a comprehensive understanding of history to our students, enabling them to critically analyze the past and contribute to building a better future. I am confident that this history roadmap project will create a significant impact on higher education in our country, and I look forward to seeing its positive outcomes in the years to come,” he added.
Last year, ÐÓ°ÉÂÛ̳-IIT, in partnership with CHED and ADMU, was granted approval for the collaborative project aimed at developing a roadmap for sociology education in the Philippines. This ongoing project has been making substantial progress in charting the future directions and strategies for sociology programs in higher education.
As with the sociology roadmap project, the focus of this history roadmap project will be on career pathways, curricular innovation, faculty development, research and extension, internationalization, and other key areas that will enhance the quality and relevance of history education. Additionally, technological advancements will play a crucial role in shaping the delivery and accessibility of history programs.
The continued collaboration between ÐÓ°ÉÂÛ̳-IIT, CHED, and other partners demonstrates a commitment to the larger vision of driving competitiveness and innovation in higher education. By developing these discipline-based roadmaps, ÐÓ°ÉÂÛ̳-IIT contributes to the overall dynamism and growth of the higher education sector in the Philippines.
As the implementation of this roadmap progresses, it is expected that the discipline of history will experience significant growth and innovation. ÐÓ°ÉÂÛ̳-IIT, in partnership with CHED and other stakeholders, will closely monitor and evaluate the effectiveness and impact of the roadmap to ensure its continuous improvement and relevance.
