by Kyle Christian Belono, CCS | May 24 2024

The Computer Applications Department of the College of Computer Studies (CCS) officially launched my.ComApps extension program. The launching was led by Ms. Apple Rose Alce, Project Leader; her Training Assistant, Mr. Kyle Christian Belono, and the esteemed faculty of the Computer Applications Department. This initiative represented a significant leap forward in enriching educational opportunities for Senior High Schools.

The team kicked off their workshop series at St. Michael’s College (SMC) from April 24-26, 2024, at the initiative of Asst. Prof. Maria Fe Bahinting. The workshop, which saw the participation of 54 students, provided them with a unique opportunity to explore microcontrollers early, thereby enhancing their proactivity in technology development. Dr. Ritzcen A. Durango, SMC’s Vice President for Academic Affairs, expressed gratitude for this enriching experience for their senior high students and the increased knowledge it brought to their college students.

Moreover, Ms. Alce and her team took the initiative to conduct courtesy meetings with two public high schools in Iligan City. This outreach effort aimed to introduce the my.ComApps extension program and explore potential collaborations to enrich educational opportunities for students. Dr Carlito A. Abarquez, Principal of Senior High School Students at Iligan City National High School (ICNHS), expressed his delight at the prospect of collaboration with CCS Computer Applications, recognizing the potential for a positive impact on the school’s educational landscape.

According to Ms. Alce, she believes that with sufficient motivation, the development of technology aimed at solving community problems can be maximized through shared efforts. This philosophy underscores the program’s ethos, emphasizing the potential for technology to catalyze positive change when coupled with collaborative initiatives and collective determination. She emphasizes that the program’s impact begins with the younger generation, who still has the freedom to explore and choose their future fields of endeavor.

This focus on empowering the youth underscores the program’s commitment to fostering a generation of technologically adept and socially conscious individuals poised to address the challenges of tomorrow.
