Dr. Neil M. Martin of the College of Health Sciences (CHS), Mindanao State University - Iligan Institute of Technology (ÐÓ°ÉÂÛ̳-IIT), Philippines, on March 7, 2024 was keynote speaker for the 3rd International Conference on Disaster Management and Human Health Risk (ICDMHHR 2024) in Kuala Lumpur, Malaysia.
Martin presented his paper entitled “Mental Health and Youth Peacebuilding Agency: Towards Youth-Inclusive, Gender-responsive Post Conflict and Pandemic Environment,” he also acted as a session chair and judge for 12 International Research Presentations during the event that attracted more than 200 participants from Indonesia, India, China, Pakistan, Nigeria, Yemen, UAE, Saudi Arabia, Malaysia and the Philippines.
The 3rd International Conference organized and hosted by the Lincoln University College (LUC) which had the focal theme “Sustainable Water Management and Environment” also covered other areas of focus that included agriculture and water management, communication and information technology, diseases such as dengue and rabies, disaster preparedness and emergency management, flood prevention and response, geriatric healthcare, and occupational hazards.
Several other keynote speakers for the event were from Lincoln University College and included President Dr. Amiya Bhaumik, Pro-Chancellor Prof. Datuk Dr. Hajjah Bibi Florina Abdullah, Vice Chancellor & CEO Dato (Amb) Dr. Mohd Yusoff Bin A. Bakar, Deputy Vice Chancellor (Academic) Prof. Datin Dr. Hafizah Che Hassan, Prof. Dr. Santhna Letchmi, Dean, Faculty of Nursing, Prof. Dr. Zarina Awang, Dean, Faculty of Medicine, and Prof. Dr. Faridah Mohd Said, Postgraduate Coordinator, Faculty of Nursing.
Other keynote speakers also included Mr. Michael Simon, CEO, Homegrown Productions Sdn Bhd, and Dr. Y. Vinodhini, Amjad Ali Khan College of Business Administration, Hyderabad, India.
After the conference Martin was given an academic tour by LUCs Dr. Sandeep Poddar and was able to visit all three campuses. Lincoln University College has been in collaboration with ÐÓ°ÉÂÛ̳-IIT since the International Conference on Health Care and Allied Sciences (ICHAS) and signed a Memorandum of Understanding (MOU) for research and publication partnership in January this year.
