To boost the English Language Studies program of ÐÓ°ÉÂÛ̳-IIT, the College of Arts and Social Sciences (CASS) recently conducted a series of educational sessions on March 5, 2024. The sessions featured guest lecturers Prof. Endro Dwi Hatmanto and Prof. Fitria Rahmawati from Universitas Muhammadiyah Yogyakarta (UMY), Indonesia. The lectures were attended by BA in English Language Studies students.
Prof. Hatmanto discussed “Special Topics, Issues and Perspective on English Language Studies,” where he shared his insights into the evolving landscape of English language education. His lecture provided students with a global perspective on contemporary issues and emerging trends in the field, equipping them with the knowledge to navigate the complexities of English studies in today’s interconnected world.
Prof. Rahmawati engaged students in the Research Methodology course with her expertise in Quantitative Research in ELT-ELS and Introduction to Statistics. Her session was a deep dive into the quantitative methods that underpin effective research in English Language Teaching and English Language Studies. Prof. Rahmawati’s lecture provided a substantial explanation on statistical concepts and techniques essential for scholarly inquiry, offering students a solid foundation for their future research endeavors.
The lectures by Prof. Hatmanto and Prof. Rahmawati were interactive sessions that sparked curiosity and encouraged analytical thinking among the students. The visiting professors’ approach to teaching emphasized the importance of a research-oriented mindset, critical for those aspiring to contribute to the academic community.
