Mission

To safeguard the lives of all persons and properties in the campus by providing sound security measures and policies which are instinctive under all circumstances.

Mandate

A responsive division actively promoting a culture of peace and order, safeguarding Institute physical assets and infrastructures and ensuring protective services to the constituents of the Institute and its immediate environs, and shall be responsible for the following:

  1. To formulate security measures for the protection of properties and individuals in the campus;
  2. To implement policies relative to the establishment and maintenance of peace and order in the campus;
  3. To mediate between various sectors in ÐÓ°ÉÂÛ̳-IIT in order to facilitate the development of cordial relations among them;
  4. To assist in establishment of rapport between the Institute and the surrounding community for mutual cooperation in order to maintain a peaceful co-existence;
  5. To establish linkages with government and non-government agencies for the enhancement of mutual cooperation in advancing the security interests of the Institute.

Core functions

For protection and safeguarding purposes:

  1. Check the condition of the perimeter fence;
  2. Check buildings, locks and violations of cost saving measures;
  3. Check the installed firefighting equipments and facilities;
  4. Report hazards and security deficiencies violations;
  5. Recommend for improvements of security policies.

For maintenance of peace and order:

  1. Prevent access of unauthorized persons;
  2. Give direction/information to Institute visitors;
  3. Control incoming and outgoing vehicles;
  4. Arrest vandals and troublemakers.
  5. Request the use of available parking spaces.

For other functions:

  1. Provide security escorts to Institute officials/VIPs and other high-ranking government officials;
  2. Investigate security violations;
  3. Investigate incident reports;
  4. Provide management with regular reports on security status of the campus;
  5. Conduct regular disaster management drills in the campus;
  6. Conduct trainings/seminars on security related matters (i.e. bomb threats, terrorism and natural disasters);

Incidental Thrusts:

  1. Assist in the national effort through the passing of desire information to national security authority;
  2. Provide security measures to classified documents and materials;
  3. Conduct security seminars/trainings and orientation courses;
  4. Provide control of personnel and vehicle movement;
  5. Advice Head of Offices on matters of security;
  6. Perform such other functions as the proper authorities may direct.

Security Conduct:

  1. Be professional and courteous in all interactions with the employees and visitors as good public relation gesture;
  2. Exhibit honesty, integrity and exemplary conduct on and off;
  3. Maintain a professional, clean appearance;
  4. Enforce the rules, regulations, and policies fairly.
