Programs and Services

The Institute’s research and extension programs and services have been anchored on six (6) Pillars of Strategies in order to sustain excellence through innovation in support of its vision for world-class excellence in science and technology.

Goal 1: High Productivity and Competent Faculty and Staff in Research and Extension

  • Foster capability building of faculty and staff through trainings here and abroad;
  • Sustain an aggressive R&E Human power development program on identified key areas and technologies;
  • Set in motion the Scientific Career System;
  • Institutionalize multi-disciplinary, collaborative research and extension programs and mentoring in R&E;
  • Promote continuous exchange of scholarly ideas through regular forums, consultations and publications;
  • Enhance the Institute’s award system for R&E productivity;
  • Strengthen and support college-based R&E; and
  • Improve M&E of R&E PPAs

Goal 2: Research Utilization and Commercialization of R&D Outputs

  • Sustain and Strengthen operations of Technology Business Incubator (TBI) facility and other infrastructures supporting the innovation ecosystem development
  • Increase patent applications and patent utilization at Intellectual Property Unit;
  • Establish a Technology Transfer Center;
  • Strengthen technology transfer programs and adoption of communities;
  • Collaborate with Local Government Units (LGUs), technical agencies and institutions including existing industries for the establishment of Common Service Facilities (CSF); and
  • Develop prototypes of commercially feasible research and development outputs.

Goal 3: Internationalization of Research and Extension

  • Enhance international linkages and R&E collaborations;
  • Support benchmarking activities for R&E by periodic visits and trainings of R&E personnel in international research and extension facilities; and
  • Promote participation of faculty and staff in international conferences, forums and trainings.

Goal 4: Publication, Public Relations (PR) and Advocacy for R&E

  • Production of Information, Education and Communications (IEC) materials;
  • Publish ISI Journals and ISBN Book Publications for Science, Math and Engineering; and the Social Sciences; and
  • Accreditation and Online Publications of Institute Journals.

Goal 5: Knowledge Management in R&E

  • Knowledge promotion through exhibits, printed materials development and lecture series; and
  • Database build-up and maintenance.

Goal 6: R&D Infrastructure Development

  • Development of R,D & E facilities and laboratories with state-of-the-art equipment; and
  • Campaign for external funding support and infrastructure development collaborators.
