Mindanao State University - Iligan Institute of Technology (ÐÓ°ÉÂÛ̳-IIT) entered into a Memorandum of Understanding (MOU) with Nanjing Forestry University (NJFU) on October 11, 2024, in Nanjing, China. This partnership aims to bolster academic and research initiatives between the two institutions, fostering an environment of mutual respect and shared knowledge.
The partnership is set to enhance relations and mutual understanding through a diverse range of activities including the exchange of academic and administrative staff, students, the organization of joint training programs, conferences, workshops, research projects, and joint funding applications. There will also be an exchange of academic information and materials along with other educational collaborations agreed upon by both institutions.
Chancellor Alizedney M. Ditucalan, expressing his gratitude and excitement at the signing ceremony, emphasized the strategic alliance's critical role in advancing the mission and vision of ÐÓ°ÉÂÛ̳-IIT. He passionately talked about how such partnerships pave the way for a sustainable future benefiting not just the present but also future generations.
Attending the signing ceremony from ÐÓ°ÉÂÛ̳-IIT were Vice Chancellor for International Affairs Joey Genevieve Martinez and this writer. NJFU was represented by their Vice President Prof. Yin Tongming and the deans of the various colleges of NJFU.
NJFU, a provincial public university in Jiangsu, China, is part of the Chinese central government’s World First-Class Universities and Academic Disciplines Construction initiative that started in 2015. This policy aims to elevate universities to world-class status by 2050 by emphasizing the development of their faculties and departments.
This partnership marks ÐÓ°ÉÂÛ̳-IIT's third collaborative venture with a Chinese university, joining current endeavors with Nanjing Agricultural University and East China University of Science and Technology.
Through this MOU, ÐÓ°ÉÂÛ̳-IIT and NJFU not only aim to advance their own academic missions but also contribute significantly to the global educational landscape, promising a future of thriving, interconnected academic communities.
