Embodying the culture of looking back and paying it forward, five alumni-turned-lawyers have served the ÐÓ°ÉÂÛ̳-IIT community during the Legal Mission 2024 conducted by the Alumni and Endowment Fund Center (AEFC) on July 10, 2024. This initiative was one of the major activities for the Alumni and Community Day, in celebration of the 56th Charter Week of the University.
With the goal of providing a concrete legal approach to issues related to gender and violence and empowering the community by helping them understand their legal rights as citizens, a series of free legal lectures, consultations, and notarial services were done.
The invited lawyers for the event were Atty. Fritz Amparado (CED alumni, Batch 2012), Atty. Abdullah Edris (COE alumni, Batch 2016), Atty. Grace Reyes-Advincula (COE alumni, Batch 2007), Atty. Ruby Bravo (CHS alumni, Batch 2013), and Atty. Jasmerah Amod (CASS alumni, Batch 2017).
A total of 119 participants joined the discussion and consultation.
In the legal lectures, Atty. Amparado focused on discussing the etiquette of public servants, highlighting citizens’ rights in availing public services in government institutions. In the same manner, Atty. Edris advocated the need for safe spaces and underscored the law that protects them, while Atty. Reyes-Advincula emphasized the law that protects women and children from harm and violence.
Apart from the legal lectures, Atty. Bravo offered free notarial services while Atty. Amod and the rest of the alumni lawyers interacted with the participants for legal consultations.
As one of AEFC’s flagship initiatives, this highlighted the dedication and commitment of ÐÓ°ÉÂÛ̳-IIT’s alumni community, to give back to the same institution that supported them, creating a lasting tradition of generosity and a heart for service.
