ÐÓ°ÉÂÛ̳-IIT graduate students bag awards in the 11th ASTHRDP Graduate Scholars' Conference

Three DOST scholars from the Mindanao State University - Iligan Institute of Technology (ÐÓ°ÉÂÛ̳-IIT) brought home awards in the recently concluded 11th ASTHRDP Graduate Scholars' Conference held at the Philippine International Convention Center, Pasay City on September 26-27, 2023. 

Olivert Sitoy, Alfilgen Sebandal, and Jerry Boy Cariaga received distinctions for their respective studies. Sitoy was awarded first place in the oral presentation Category 3 (Physical Sciences). He presented his research entitled, "In vitro evaluation of three organic acids as a potential inhibitor of acetylcholinesterase via spectrochemical, electrochemical, and computational techniques," under the supervision of Dr. Ellen Inutan. 

Sebandal and Cariaga placed first and third, respectively in the oral presentation for Category 4 (Mathematical and Computational Sciences). Sebandal presented her research on "Graded Classifications of Leavitt Path Algebras via Talented Monoids," under the supervision of Dr. Jocelyn Vilela and Dr. Roozbeh Hazrat (External Adviser from Western Sydney University, Australia). Cariaga, on the other hand, presented a talk entitled, "On Double Roman Dominating Functions in Graphs," supervised by Dr. Ferdinand Jamil. 

Although representing UP Diliman, Ms. Angelica Jemong, currently a lecturer of the Department of Mathematics and Statistics of this University also bagged first place for the poster presentation in Category 4 (Mathematical and Computational Sciences). She presented her research on "Conditions for Sign Pattern Matrices of Order 5 that Allow or Require a Set of Refined Inertias". 

Sitoy, Sebandal, and Jemong will receive a cash incentive of Php10,000.00 each while Cariaga will receive Php4,000.00. The conference provided an excellent platform for scholars to showcase their exceptional research findings. The recognition received by these students not only validate their hard work and dedication but also demonstrate the University’s commitment to fostering excellence in research and innovation. ÐÓ°ÉÂÛ̳-IIT continues to produce outstanding scholars who contribute significantly to their respective fields, further solidifying its reputation as a leading institution for research and academic excellence in Mindanao.
