COET deploys 316 student-trainees

The College of Engineering and Technology (COET) deployed a total of 316 students to various industries, companies, and offices in Visayas and Mindanao to undergo 720 hours of supervised on-the-job training which runs from February 2022 to June 2022.

A vital component of the 4-year Engineering Technology program, the Supervised-On-the-Job Training (SOJT) is a venue for students to showcase their abilities and to acquire new skills and competencies. It also gives students the opportunity to scout for potential employers. 

The student-trainees are from the Bachelor of Engineering Technology (BET) programs of COET namely Metallurgical and Materials Engineering Technology, Mechanical Engineering Technology, Electronics Engineering Technology, Electrical Engineering Technology, Chemical Engineering Technology, Civil Engineering Technology, and the Bachelor of Science in Automation and Mechatronics.

Prof. Nadzmi S. Sayadi currently heads the SOJT Program. Together with Asst. Prof. Orlando D.  Sumalpong Jr., Asst. Prof. Catherine O. Acibar, Dr. Roque B. Requino, and Assoc. Prof. Leo L. Samson, the team serves as the executive arm of the COET Dean in the management and implementation of the said program. 

In his letter to the heads of the cooperating industries, companies, and offices, the COET Dean, Dr. Noel R. Estoperez, pointed out that they are the partners of the Institute in molding the students to become world-class engineering technologist and productive citizens.

The cooperating industries, companies, and offices include, among others, Monde Nissin Corporation (Cebu), KDP Surveying and Construction Services (Leyte), DOLE Philippines Inc. (South Cotabato), Department of Public Works and Highway (Butuan), First Asianmetals Corporation (Cagayan de Oro), Trimidal Mini Gold Processing Plant (Surigao del Sur), Maria Cristina Chemical Inc. (Iligan City), Mabuhay Vinyl Corporation (Iligan City), and Republic Cement Corporation (Iligan City).
