A team of BS Accountancy students triumphed in the Elimination Rounds in the Northern Mindanao League of the 20th Inter-Collegiate Finance Competition (ICFC) held last October 26, 2018 in Xavier University, Cagayan de Oro City. The team, composed of Leynette Joy Lepaopao, Florabel Dela Cerna, Mariale Mich Solatorio and their coach Asst. Prof. Michael Lloyd A. Bation, CPA, will advance to the final rounds of the competition on November 23, 2018 at the Bangko Sentral ng Pilipinas (BSP), Malate, Manila. The team will be competing against the University of the Philippines – Diliman, Ateneo de Davao University, De La Salle University – Manila, University of San Carlos, Ateneo de Manila University, Mapua University, University of Santo Tomas and other universities who made it to the TOP 20 spot.
The Inter-Collegiate Finance Competition elimination round, which started at around 8:30 in the morning and ended at around 6:30 in the evening, was participated by more than 90 universities and colleges nationwide and was simultaneously organized in seven major areas in the country: North Luzon (University of the Cordilleras), Central Luzon (Angeles University Foundation), National Capital Region (JPMorgan Chase and Co. Net Plaza Bldg.), Central and Eastern Visayas (University of San Carlos), Western Visayas (University of St. La Salle), Southern Mindanao (University of Mindanao) and Northern Mindanao (Xavier University, Ateneo de Cagayan).
The ICFC is a quiz bowl competition, comprising of easy to difficult questions requiring analytical and problem solving expertise from the students. The ICFC, conducted by the Financial Executive Institute of the Philippines (FINEX) and high-end companies JPMorgan Chase & Co., PricewaterhouseCoopers (pwc) Philippines, P&A Grant Thornton and the Bangko Sentral ng Pilipinas, is regarded as the country’s toughest and most prestigious academic competition in accounting, quantitative analysis, valuation, economics, banking and finance. It promotes and raises finance education to global standards among college and universities in the country.
The College of Business Administration and Accountancy of ÐÓ°ÉÂÛ̳-IIT is with high hopes that their students will maintain such praise worthy achievement and will excel, not only in the next ICFC, but also, in various competitions and challenges waiting ahead.
