Project/Activity Description
The Department of Extension of Mindanao State University-Iligan Institute of Technology will be holding the Institute Community Day this coming February 22, 2017 at the Institute Gym entitled “Ang Panagtagbo Year 2.” It is an activity that intends to gather together institute units and their community partners who are engaged in the WE CARE extension program, the official extension program of the Institute.
The one-day gathering will showcase these partnerships through a day of exhibit displays, product booths, and lectures at the gym. This also includes song and dance performance of alternative artists.

1. Foster the Institute’s spirit for community engagement and extension |
The whole community day activity is designed to foster the spirit for community engagement and extension among staff, faculty and students of the Institute. Students, faculty, and staff will be enjoined to attend and participate in the activities. |
2. Showcase best practices in existing community engagements of the Institute with their community partners for documentation and replication |
Each institute academic unit will have the chance to showcase their best extension programs through an exhibit display and poster booth. Partner communities are enjoined to be present and participate by showcasing their products or share their stories.
Lectures and demonstration activities will held at the designated activity area to showcase products and best practices.
The student council per college will also put up a both for this purpose.

3. Deliver the message that community extension work is related to the goals of promoting nationalism or love for country, the theme of the SERVE THE PEOPLE |
The cultural show which will culminate the one-day activity will feature alternative acts that are known for their nationalist and patriotic songs. Students will be required to attend the said activity for them to imbibe the important message of nationalism and community involvement |
Methodology
The one-day activity is submitted as an extension project proposal of the Department of Extension for approval of pertinent authority.
Partner communities and institutions of extension programs will be invited to showcase products or conduct lectures and demonstrations.
Alternative artists and Extension luminaries will be invited for the event.
