Training Orientation - IPDM Peace Film Festival 2014 “Peace in Mindanao for REEL!”

IPDM Peace Film Festival 2014 Training Orientation is a project for the Peace Film Festival which will undergo training for 12 teams on music competion and 14 teams on film competition.

In celebration of the incoming Mindanao Week of Peace 2014, the Ӱ̳-IIT Institute for Peace and Development in Mindanao (IPDM), in partnership with the Civil Peace Service Program of the Deutsche Gesellschaft für Internationale Zusammenarbeit (GIZ-CPS), has been organizing a lineup of activities promoting peace in Mindanao through research, education, and action. Among the highlights of the said celebration are two peace action activities, described in the following, which mainly intend to involve the youth of Iligan City and the Lanao and Misamis provinces.

(1) Peace Film Festival

This year’s Peace Film Festival dubbed as “Peace in Mindanao for REEL!” is a short film competition open to all student filmmakers. A short film, either fiction or documentary, shall be produced by a team of students comprised of a director, scriptwriter, crew, videographer, editor, actors, and others. The film must be clearly content-related to Mindanao, such as intercultural/ interfaith relationship and conflict, the ongoing GPH-MILF Peace Process, discrimination and prejudice, stories of Lumad, success stories, etc.

The deadline for team registration is on September 15, 2014. Registration is free. Also, there will be a free workshop on the History of Mindanao, the ongoing GPH-MILF Peace Process, Scriptwriting, Filming, and Editing for all participants. Prizes are at stake.

(2) Peace Music Video

This event, open to all students, is an original song - music video competition with a thematic context. The song and accompanying video composed and produced by an individual or a team of students, must content-related to peace in Mindanao, with specific themes similar to that for the Peace Film Festival (as mentioned above).
