Baccalaureate Ceremonies:
The ceremonies shall consist of the following:

Commencement Ceremonies:
The ceremonies shall consist of the following:
1) Processional 2) Invocation 3) Pambansang Awit 4) Welcome Address 5) Introduction of the Commencement Speaker 6) Commencement Address 7) Presentation of Plaque of Appreciation and Tokens 8) Presentation of the Candidates for Graduation 9) Conferment of Titles and Degrees 10) Graduation Song 11) Oath Taking of the Graduates 12) Pledge of Loyalty to the Alma Mater 13) Himno ng Pamantasan, and 16) Recessional
Attendance:
- All candidates are required to attend the rehearsals, baccalaureate and commencement ceremonies. Have this guide sheet signed by your College Marshal. Show this at the Registrar’s Office upon requesting your documents after graduation. Ensure also that your attendance is checked before the baccalaureate ceremony.
- If you cannot attend the rehearsals, Pre Commencement, baccalaureate or commencement ceremonies, secure an excuse letter addressed to the Registrar and duly endorsed by the College Marshal.
- Observe punctuality in all graduation-related activities.
Academic Regalia and Dress Code:
Academic Regalia
|
· The prescribed academic regalia, composed of the gown and cap for all candidates, stole/langkit for undergraduate students and hood for graduate students, should be worn throughout the ceremonies.
· The gown must be well-pressed and the hood/stole must be pinned on both shoulders.
· The hem of the academic regalia must be below the knees.
|
Dress Code
|
· No corsage, or any adornment, shall be worn with the academic regalia. Bags are discouraged from being carried.
· College Marshals are tasked to ensure that the candidates are wearing their academic regalia properly; otherwise, the offending candidate may not be allowed to join the ceremonies.

Females
|
Males
|
· A female candidate should wear, underneath her academic regalia, a semi-formal dress.
· Closed black shoes, and no sandals, should be worn.
· No pants or slacks shall be allowed.
· A female candidate shall manage her hair in such a way that the cap sits comfortably on her head.
|
- A male candidate should not wear earrings and other unauthorized adornment.
- He shall wear his academic regalia with a long sleeves, slacks, and black shoes not sneakers with socks.
· Cross-dressing is strictly forbidden.
|
Driving Routes and Parking Rules:
- Per Institute policy, only cars with stickers obtained from the Security Office can enter the campus.
- During the processional, cars of guests, parents and students with stickers are allowed to enter the campus up to the street fronting the Security Office only. After entering the gate near the administration building, a right turn must be done to the street fronting the library. At the intersection adjacent to the library, another right turn must be done to the street fronting the Security Office. Your car then leaves the campus at the exit gate.
- Before and after the processional, cars of faculty and staff with stickers, including those of the officials who were given priority numbers by the Security Office, are allowed to be driven up to the vicinity of the gymnasium. Those with priority numbers are allowed to park at areas designated by the Security Office. Parking for cars of faculty and staff is on a first-come-first-served basis and is subject to availability of space.
- During the processional, except for cars that ferry dignitaries, no other cars will be allowed to enter the campus beyond the intersection near the Security Office.
Parents/Guests:
- Each candidate is entitled with five (5) cards. One (1) for the candidate and four (4) for the parents/guests. The card serves as an entry pass to the gymnasium.
- The card must be pinned on the left chest and must be visible for security personnel to check upon entering the gymnasium.
- Parents/guests may be asked to open their bags and packages for inspection by the security personnel at the entrance.
- Children under seven (7) years old are not allowed inside the gymnasium.
- Parents of honor students will be given special cards with the appropriate honors printed, e.g., “cum laude parents, magna cum laude parents, etc.” For post-baccalaureate candidates, two of the parent/guest cards will bear the signature of the Registrar. Holders of these special cards may be afforded seats on the gymnasium grounds right behind the faculty members.
- The rest of the parents/guests will sit on the bleachers.
- All seats are on a first-come-first-served basis. Parents/Guests must be seated before the start of the ceremonies. They may not be allowed to enter the gymnasium once the ceremonies have started.
- Parents/Guests are not allowed to enter the gymnasium grounds or ask a favor from the ushers/usherettes to hand-over anything to the candidates, except on emergency situations.
- Parents/guests are requested to observe semi-formal attire or business wears.
- Parents/guests are allowed to take pictures only from their seats. Candidates, however, are not allowed to take pictures even on their seats during the entire ceremonies.
- Only official photographers are allowed to take pictures on the grounds during the ceremonies.
- Everyone is expected to maintain silence during the ceremonies. Cell phones and other electronic devices should be turned off or placed in silent/vibrate mode. Texting and calling are strictly discouraged, except on emergency situations.
Before and after the Baccalaureate Ceremony:
- Candidates shall assemble outside the gymnasium by 6:00am. Attendance will be checked by the Marshals from 6:00 to 6:30am.
- A non-graduating student shall not be allowed to join the ceremonies. Any attempt shall be dealt with in accordance with existing Institute rules and regulations.
- Candidates shall arrange themselves by college/degree in two files based on the following order: Facing the gymnasium, right side: OGS ->COET->CBAA->CON->CCS; left side: CSM grad ->CSM undergrad->CASS->CED.
- Processional starts promptly at 6:30am. Students from the 1st row march directly to their seats from the aisle. For all other students, they will march to their seats passing through the seats located at the extreme right or left row, depending on whether the candidates are on the right or left file, respectively.
- Candidates should occupy the seats contiguously. There should be no vacant seat. They must stand facing the aisle while the faculty members and officials are doing the processional. They then follow the line of sight in the direction of the last dignitary in the entourage as he/she passes the respective row. Once the dignitaries are on stage, all candidates shall be facing the stage.
- Everyone shall remain standing until the invocation.
- Caps must be worn at all times during the ceremonies.
- Candidates may sit or stand as may be advised by the spiritual leader.
- After the ceremonies, only the dignitaries on stage and the members of the Institute Council will join the recessional.
- Candidates will remain on their seats and will not be allowed to leave the gymnasium during the break after the Baccalaureate Ceremonies. The candidates are advised to take a heavy breakfast earlier. Snacks will be distributed right after the Baccalaureate Ceremonies.
- The Marshals shall ensure that food wastes/wrappers will be collected by assigned janitor/s in the area.
- There will be no rearrangement of seats during the break. Those who came late for the Baccalaureate ceremonies will be asked to sit in the last row and should not stand up once their degree is called by the President to maintain continuity in the ranks. They will have to stand up together with the students in the last row.
During the Commencement Ceremonies:
- Candidates shall remain standing facing the aisle while the members of the Institute Council and officials are doing the processional. They then follow the line of sight in the direction of the last dignitary in the entourage as he/she passes the respective row. Once the dignitaries are on stage, all candidates shall be facing the stage.
- They shall remain standing until the invocation and the singing of the National Anthem.
- After tokens have been given to the commencement speaker, candidates who are recipients of extra-curricular and academic awards are requested to be ready to be recognized based on awards.
- During the presentation of the candidates by the Institute Chancellor, the candidates will stand as their degree is presented; they shall remain standing until all degrees have been presented, and the candidates have been conferred their respective degree by the ÐÓ°ÉÂÛ̳S President.
- Once the candidates have been conferred their respective degrees, the graduates give a resounding clap. At the cue of the Stage Marshal, clapping is stopped, and the tassel is transferred from right to left. Then, the graduates give themselves another resounding clap.
- There shall be no tossing of caps in the air after conferment.
Emergency Situations:
- Students/faculty/staff/marshals recognize/detect a client (student, faculty, staff, parents, guests) in need of a medical emergency such as an injury or illness.
- Call the attention of the emergency response team immediately for medical attention and summon additional assistance from the Institute Clinic if necessary.
When calling the Institute Clinic (221-4050 Local Number 4444), provide information regarding the incident to the Clinic Staff such as gender; patient status- level of consciousness, pain, able to walk, chief complaint of the injury/illness; exact location at the gym.
- Clear the area to give the person privacy and for the emergency response team personnel to render basic first aid as necessary.
- After the client has been given basic first aid, the person may be transported (by ambulance) to the clinic for thorough medical assessment by the Institute Physician, or may be transported and referred immediately to a tertiary hospital for further medical evaluation and management.
After the Ceremonies:
- Graduates shall follow the members of the Institute Council in the recessional, starting from the first row and to be led by students nearest the aisle.
- No graduate or members of the Institute council should break the recessional formation until they have exited the gymnasium.
- Expressions of congratulations and giving of flowers, leis or gifts should be given outside the gymnasium after the commencement ceremonies. The graduates and their parents may, however, return to the gymnasium for a pictorial.
- Return gowns/caps/hoods immediately after graduation to avoid penalty.
- College/School Marshals will tag as absent or late, in the on-line Clearance System, those who are absent or late, respectively, in the ceremonies. The graduate may be cleared if an excuse letter is submitted to the College/School Marshal.
