BS Mechanical Engineering Program Educational Objectives

Within three to five years after obtaining a bachelor’s degree in Mechanical Engineering, a graduate is expected to demonstrate the following:

  1. Established in Mechanical Engineering and allied field in the area of research and development, technology innovation, and management which enable him/her to hold a position beyond his/her entry-level in an organization or become an entrepreneur.
  2. Sustained career development through graduate studies and/or professional training.
  3. A sense of social responsibility, good ethical behavior, and professional commitment through involvement in community engagement activities and active membership in professional organizations in the field of Mechanical Engineering which promote social awareness and equity.

BS Mechanical Engineering Program Outcomes

Graduates of our baccalaureate program in Mechanical Engineering should be able to:

Engineering practice both as an art and science

  • Apply knowledge of mathematics, physical sciences, and engineering sciences to the practice of engineering;
  • Design a system, component, or process to meet desired needs within realistic constraints such as economic, environmental, social, political, ethical, health and safety, manufacturability, and sustainability, in accordance with standards ;
  • Use appropriate techniques, skills, and modern engineering tools necessary for the practice of engineering;
  • Demonstrate knowledge and sound judgment of contemporary issues in the context of the diverse and multicultural environment;

Critical thinking and in-depth analysis

  • Identify, formulate, and solve engineering problems;
  • Manifest broad education and apply such knowledge to provide solutions to actual problems with understanding on the impact of such solutions in a global, economic, environmental, and societal context;

Research and Innovation, Inventiveness and Technopreneurship

  • Design and conduct experiments, as well as to analyze and interpret data;
  • Demonstrate an inclination towards innovation and technopreneurship;

Ethics and Professionalism

  • Recognize the need for, and engage in life-long learning;
  • Appraise the effects and impact of the engineering profession on the environment and the society, as well as the social and ethical responsibilities of the profession;

Management, Collaboration and Communication

  • Communicate effectively;
  • Demonstrate knowledge and understanding of engineering, and management principles as a member and leader in a team to manage projects in multidisciplinary environment; and
  • Work effectively in multi-disciplinary teams.
